LONDON: Tamu Pye Lhu Organization, a body of Tamu caste people, has said that it will publish its holy book -- Pye -- which is now limited only among Tamu priests. The lack of written form has been posing a great threat at its existence since the priests have just been reciting the sacred laws of the community during the family rituals.

The decision was taken during a three-day meeting organized in Pokhara last month. As per the decision, the UK chapter of the body will cover the 50 percent of the total cost required for accumulating, drafting and publishing it. The remaining sum will be raised in Hong Kong, India, other countries and in various parts of Nepal.

It is estimated that the project will cost around NRs 2.5 million and completed within three years. A 21-member committee headed by its central chairman Indra Bahadur Kepchhe Tamu has also been formed in order to expedite the process.

According to Bheg Chakli Tamu, secretary of the organization, the move is very contextual as the unique religion and family rituals of Tamu people are on the brink of extinction, thanks to lack of conservation efforts and promotion.
