hi everyone,
i request you to please share your experience to help our newly arrived brothers and sisters from nepal.

i have been hearing that newly arriving students from are in real trouble, mainly due to some colleges
asking for extra fees (for registration not being informed in advance?) or hesitating to enroll unless students have permanent address! and many other excuses we do not know yet....

1) do you think those colleges or its reps have actually passed necessary information to students in advance in nepal?

2) in the case of address, how can just arriving students have permanent address? and they can not even apply for discounted travel cards without being referred from the colleges.

have also heard that many students are sleeping roughly in south east area?
some even going to college with their suitcases? ironically, such colleges have not started the class yet even though they were supposed to studey in first week september?

hi newly arrived bro/sis,
do not be afraid, be strong and come out to express your true experiences.
we forum members can share our experiences and be able to provide you with necessary informations to help you out.
thanks a lot.

Ani consultancy le chahi 3000 pound na li student pathai dincha ho ?

Maile tyasai website hera bhanchu. Dar bhanne kura ta nepali haru bata huncha.

Jaha samma mero kura cha...maile kunai consultancy bata pathako hoina. Afai le university try gare. ek dui ota haina 6-7 ota tyo pani 7-8 months agadi....kati ota ta maile IELTS dinu bhanda agadi nai conditionally apply garya ho.

ma ta nepal bata aaune student lai eutai salla dinchu. Abui university ma 12000 tuition fee rahecha bhanera tarsinu hunna ra apply garna ni chodnu hunna. The key to success in University is to apply for as early as possible. Jati chito apply garyo uti dherai schoarship scheme ko lagi apply garna milcha. Available schoarship jati sapai university ko website mai huncha.

Secondly, apply for as many university as possible. College ni garne tara university sanga tarsera University ma chahi apply garna chodnu hunna. University bata funding paune tapai hami jastai sadharan student nai ho .

Ani most important thing to all coming student . Your first priority is to study. yeah if you are in Uk there will be times you won't have money and you feel you have to work rather than study. But never leave your study. It should come first.

So I d like to urge other nepalese coming to uk on student visa please please ! when u chooose any college please have all the valid informations abt the college before hand thru net or any other sources so that u dont face any problem in uk.

Lastly all the best to all the students(nepalese) for better life and study in UK.

what is NRN doing ?

what is nepal embassy is doing? just organising parties and enjoying in the candle light dining hall?
officials attending almost every events here? isn't it a part of the responsibility of the embassy too?

what is nepali tv in the uk doing? why not trying to find and press the concerned culprit colleges or responsible institutions?
what are all nepalese papers doing? well they have always been barking the same political bhukai only?
comon you guys - wake up wake up. this is the time to act something demanded by the time and situation. dig deep and drill them up until clearance. do not leave these culprits.
yes part of faults by students too but what happened is happened. now it's time to collect facts, punish those irresponsible colleges or institutions and warn strongly to the potential victims to avoid further happening it.

Student should take majority of the fault. Nobody has forced to them. Maile ek jana bhai lai asti nepal phone garera yaha ko college ko bare ma bhanya. But they don't trust me. I guess its same for everybody. Afu chahi UK gaera hamilai na aaija bhancha.

I guess every student should ask the people who are already here. Not the consultancy who have never been to UK. They are even saying " London ma olympic hudai cha ........majja le jagir paucha". Why don't they go to more reliable source like british council or somebody in UK to find out the reality.

Another fault of student is, many of them don't book any accommodation before coming here. I heard many of them call the college for accommodation after they arrive in the airport. Asti ek jana le 3 din agadi phone garera " Kotha khoji dinu paryo" bhancha. Thanks to nepali samaj uk kotha ta payo. Tara everyone won't be that lucky.

I am really gisgusted by the behaviour of London Thames College that they are charging student 195 on the very day new student arrive at their door step and even 495 for PG student. This is not justifiable as student were not aware of these charges in Nepal and nowere it states this kind of charges on their prospectus. New student had to pay these fee otherwise they were thretened to be removed or told they won't be able to sit any examiniation. Now these student got less money left on their pocket and some left with no money which meant to be for their accomodation and other expenses. This is a day light robbery

My only advice: Sorry to be harsh, if your not here to study, then do something else with your life.

I know a relative who came here recently to study, and one of the first things I asked him was, "What do you want to do after your studies?" He seemed a little lost in my question.

This seems to be a reoccuring response I get from Nepali students, and many I find get lured by the short term gains of earning money, end up wasting their money on unnecessary materistic things, and then expectedly dropping out of the classes which they had no real interest in completing in anyway. Interestingly this phenomenom doesn't just happen with students living a minimal life, but those that can afford to live a comfortable student life and find the time to work seem to miserably fail too. If you have no desire to study and succeed, whatever your hardships, then it's not going to happen.

However, on the plus side, I know students who have come here to study, have a passion for what they do, and want to show that their willing to perserver to make something of themselves, and they appear from all walks of life - pauper to prince. It should be understood what drives such people - overall, a long term investment in their life. We should congratulate them, and use them for inspiration for us studying or trying to achieve something in life.

Another thing I think that plagues our society is that of snobbery, there's some underlying need to exagerrate or give the illusion that we're living like royalty in foreign land, for example, I was in another well developed nation on holiday a few years ago visiting a relative (who is also a student), they would constantly moan about not being able to afford textbooks and a personal laptop for writing up coursework. The next day, we were browsing through a department store, and the relative in question seemed more than happy to purchase $100-$200 watches for their parents back home, perfumes for some cousin they were going to visit. Clearly, there is something illogical going on here. Why are we too weak to admit that we can't afford certain things at the present? If you can't afford it, but you have to save for a laptop or that textbook, why cause yourself further hardship than you already have? I saw an essay she wrote, and it was poor for someone you had spent life having private tuition, going to the best schools in Nepal and living in a developed nation for some time. I'm sure alot of you can relate to this to some degree.

So guys and girls, please go to your classes, think why you are there, and think about your future, ignore pressures that stop you from acheiving your goals. Trust me, stick to it and the textbooks, laptops and your achieved qualifications will be your goldmine.

Whatever the trade or profession; nurse, hairdresser, doctor, engineer, journalist, politician, mechanic, scientist, chef, charity fundraiser, army...only you can make it happen.

Narayan, I am absolutely shocked and disgusted by any college that can do this to a student arriving from Nepal. I am a Brit, married to a Nepali and working in a consultancy, belonging to my wife's family in Kathmandu. I know of all the tricks of the trade and see so many Nepali young students falling headlong into the trap of being directed to the London junk colleges. I am disgusted by what happens here. In our consultancy we direct students to UK Government funded colleges like Langside College in Glasgow or University of West Scotland group where we can even offer free rooms or almost free rooms to the students. And when our students get to the UK, we want them to keep in touch with us so we can monitor their progress. But sadly the students want only one thing..... CHEAP.... and that's the biggest mistake. If they just paid a bit more, rooms can be free or sponsored, extensions within the UK become easy and the students' welfare becomes important in the Government colleges. We just keep trying to advise them correctly
