A man was stunned with a Taser gun and arrested on Sunday after he allegedly robbed a Santa Rosa pharmacy at knifepoint, police said.
Police said the man entered a CVS Pharmacy at 2700 Yulupa Ave. at about 12:25 p.m. Sunday, police said. A cashier was making change for another customer when the man, who appeared to be drunk, held up a knife and demanded money, police said. The clerk was able to walk away and call police. However, the man then approached the store employee again, still holding the knife, police said. This time, the clerk complied and gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash.
A police officer arrived just as the man, later identified as 36-year-old Bidur Pokharel, was leaving the store. The officer spotted Pokharel, got out of his car and demanded that Pokharel drop the weapon, police said. Pokharel then allegedly advanced toward the officer with the knife. Police said the officer realized Pokharel was unsteady and
possibly intoxicated.
He shot Pokharel with a Taser gun, causing him to fall to the ground and drop the knife.
The officer then handcuffed Pokharel and took him to a hospital. When Pokharel was released from the hospital, he was arrested for robbery and resisting arrest.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact Santa Rosa police Officer Mark Fajardin at (707) 543-3600.
