ILR... do you mean the student visa I have? I arrived the UK in 2001, but for some reasons, there is a gap between my VISA in 2003 Oct to 2004 Feb.... but I am sure I was in the UK..
well, if the home office decide that I had a dis-continous staying, then I will need to take the IGS.
so my quesiton is, if I have student visa for 4 years and one year of IGS, does that count for 5 years?
    anyway, thanks.
p.s. I also read some about British citizen under the British Nationality (Hong Kong) Act 1997.... however, I received my BNO in 1997 Oct... lots of confusions from the home office web site

Please be aware if you want to change your name in your Nepalese passport, it is governed by Nepalese law. I advise you to contact Nepal Embassy. I spoke to authority of Nepal Embassy, London that you can not change your name in your passport as it would be according to your citizenship. However, the woman can change her surname after her marriage. If you want to change your name in British passport you may do so.
I believe this clarifies the matter to you.

a small piece of adive from you will be greatly admired...Beside, have you ever heard case like this before or are you new to this subject..?
    thanks dai...
As far as I am aware, many people would like to have this option to have their name changed or do similar amendments..........if only it was possible. One can change his or her name in UK without any problem provided it is not for any wrong reasons. There are law firms who even do it online for a small fee ( 20-30). Changing a name on your Nepalese documnets are very difficult if not impossible. To change your name on your Nepali passport, you will first need to change your name on Nepali citizenship card. To do that you have to show the authority in Nepal (CDO Office) that there was a mistake (such as spelling, word or similar) from their side when your certificate was first issued. Even in this case, they will only correct the mistake but will not change it to something different if you know what I mean. If everything was spot on and you just want to change your name/last name etc for personal reasons, then it is not allowed. You can change your name to whatever you like by deed poll in UK but Nepalese authorities are not obliged to honour it.

The best option will be to wait until you get your British passport ( if this is going to be the case) and then change your name to whatever you like as a UK citizen.

    Hope it helps.
