  • Regarding my current status and IGS

    Dear Raju Dai,

I looked into this forum few days ago and found it quite helpful and informative. You are doing a great job by providing assistance to many people who don't know where to turn to. In regard to that, I also have a query that I would like to ask you.

I finished my graduation in July 2007. I did BSc (Hons) in Com****ng and passed with 2:1. Basically I studied at West London College and the final year was the affiliation with the University of Greenwich. So, the degree has been awarded by the University of Greenwich. But the main problem is that before I could get my result and finish my graduation last year, my visa ran out and so I got enrolled in ABE Diploma Business Management course in another college. To give you the exact date, my visa ran out in May 2007 but the results were out only in June and graduation in July. So, although I wanted to go for IGS, I couldn't. At the moment, I have the student visa up to Sep 2009. But I haven't really taken any exam for the ABE course but was planning to do so this Dec. As some of my friends suggested that I could still apply for the IGS, I was wondering whether I can do that or not? As I have a current student visa, will the IGS be on top of that if that's granted or what will be the case? I was planning to write to Home Office as well but wanted to get some idea before doing that. So, I would be really grateful if you give me suggestions regarding this. Thank you very much.

Re: Regarding my current status and IGS

        Dear Suraks
Please accept my sincere apology to answer your query bit late due to my personal/professional circumstances. Firstly I would like to extend my congratulation to you that you have passed with 2:1 your B Sc (Hon) from Greenwich University. I understand that you have secured your visa as a student until September 2009. You are entitled to apply under IGS scheme any time prior to your leave to remain expires.. There will be a new stamp of leave to remain under IGS scheme. Under the current Immigration Rules that your leave to remain will be extended for one year. This stamp will not be on top of your current student visa. I believe this clarifies the matter to you.
        Many Thanks
        Raju Thapa
