  • Nepal Labour Department (NLD) permit on passports

Can anyone please help me understand if I will need this on my passport. I have an ILR and am planning to go to Nepal in couple of weeks. As I work in the UK, will I need to get my passport stamped by the NLD. A friend of mine was stopped at the airport whilst going back to US where he had been working for 5-6 years as he did not have this stamp.

As I understand you have been granted an ILR by the Home Office. You do not seek any permission to work from amy authorities. I am surprised to some extent why do you require NLD stamp if you are working in the UK. The Nepalese authorities are entitled to check the validity of your passport, immigration status endorse in your passport but you do not need any certification letter from NLD in the UK's context.

I think there is some confusion - indeed nepalis with ILR do tend to have a difficult time in ktm airport, particularly women, but as normal this is really only about chia money, not about legal issues.

[there has been change in nepal . If you have work permit of any nation and your are out bounding from nepal that you need to get stamp from Labour department.Or else you will revoke from the airport. To avoid dipointment and blaming the people rule is rule .

Your answer is focussed on work permit holder but the ILR is not entitled to obtain any permission from Nepalese Government. Therefore NLD permit is irrelevant in the ILR context.
